“To find out what we enjoy doing and then use that to enrich our lives
and the lives of those around us” I replied.
“That’s good Mum” he said, “you should write that down”
So I did.
this blog “gentlestitches” about page is about
“that woman who writes and makes things and
encourages other people to write and make things”
Sharon Pridmore is my name
I live in the inner city of Melbourne, Australia near Merri Creek Park lands.
I don’t have a car because it is hard to make stuff or write when driving.
I love to knit, sew and make Amigurumi and other crochet projects.
I have a small shop on ravelry where you can download free patterns as well
as the ones that pay bills.
I run classes periodically I call ‘mending is better than ending” and I love to see
a well loved article resurrected. I also teach crochet and knitting at times.
A good day for me is one where I worked on some Art
and didn’t drop any of the many balls
adults are called on to juggle.
In the words of Kurt Vonnegut on Art.
“The Arts are a very human way of making life more bearable. Practicing an art, no matter how well or badly, is a way to make your soul grow, for heaven’s sake. Sing in the shower. Dance to the radio. Tell stories. Write a poem to a friend, even a lousy poem.
Do it as well as you possible can. You will get an enormous reward.
You will have created something.”
I would like to add “cooking, gardening and all things made by hand” to the above quote.
I hope you enjoy your time with me and when you leave, smile.
and consider what brings you joy.
