a unicorn a possum and a squirrel walk into a bar.

a crochet unicorn, a squirrel and a possum, walk into a bar.
                                                                       OUCH!

An entry for a competition hosted by Evil Squirrel’s Nest for an opportunity for fun and prizes.  The rules are use a possum, squirrel and unicorn in any medium at all. Obviously my choice includes hand-made critters and amigurumi. The possum is an Australian common brush tail and we have them living quite close. They are very sweet little fellows. The squirrel is a glove squirrel which are lots of fun to make from an old glove! The unicorn is from the fabulous pattern of Jennifer from Squirrel Picnic. It is a gift to my son who requested “one just like Jennifer’s!”  Jennifer very kindly gave me the eyes so that my (almost) finished product does indeed look quite a lot like the pattern. Let us say they are related.  I leave you with a picture of the three friends before they walked into the bar!

  1. Thank you GS for adding Nylablue to your prayer list!! She was so ill…..I really believed this was the end. Somehow she rallied…. she is even stable enough I did NOT take her in today to Vet’s. She will go next week for follow-up Depo & B12 shots…but for now she is doing well.
I also wanted to say I adore that Unicorn you made; such detail… & the colors are wonderful…you are so talented!

    1. Thank you for your kind words. I was advised by fellow bloggers that Nylablue had been unwell and there were requests for prayers for her. I very much believe in the power of prayer and I put Nylablue on my list. Glad to see she looks better and I enjoyed (if that is the right word) your reblog.

  4. Wowveee!!! Needless to say the rainbow donkey is a stunner ! The glove squirrel and the little possum are so lovely. I really admire your patience and skill to make tiny little critters. All the best for the contest. It is quite a challenge to make a possum, unicorn and a squirrel.

  8. Wow!!!! Your crocheted clan is the cutest thing ever. Rainbow Donkey looks awesome!! You really do great work, Sharon. Such talent! Yours is the first Rainbow Donkey I have seen done with my pattern. It’s giving me goose bumps. I’m so excited for you. You’ve got my vote for winner of ES’s contest. That glove squirrel is an awesome idea. I love them all!

    1. Thank you Jennifer. He needs a few more steps completed and then I plan to post him “properly”. Also put him your ravelry where one can post finished projects. He isn’t quite finished yet but Shane adores him. So much I want to do and not enough time. It is the same for all of us.

      1. He looks fabulous! It means so much to me that you made him, and thank you for sharing the photo on Ravelry too! You’re the best! I know what you mean… there’s just never enough time for all the things I want to try too. I’m so glad Shane likes him. What a sweet boy!

I don’t know how ES is going to choose from all the great entries. I wouldn’t want to be in his paws right now.

  11. It’s lovely to see the completed unicorn and her colourful confederates. (I was completely bamboozled by the bar! Reeled in, hook, line and sinker. It made me laugh, out loud yet.)

  12. Oh dear heaven Sharon – they are fabulous!! The unicorn!!! LOVE IT!!!! [Am I using enough exclamation points to get my message across?] The squirrel has tons of personality and even the possum [I am not a possum lover I have to sadly admit] is rather cute 🙂 You are a master with that yarn and needle and hook it must be said! WINNER!!

    1. Thank you. Possums are really sweet when you get to know them. We see quite a bit of them around here. I wanted to get the fur and markings just right. I am working on some aussie animals for a series at the moment. Thank you so much for saying they are cute. I aim for cute! 🙂
